Little Black Dress Initiative

The Junior League of Murfreesboro has proudly participated in the Little Black Dress Initiative, a campaign designed to raise awareness about the impact domestic violence has on women, families, and communities.
During this awareness effort, participants wore a black dress or black attire for five consecutive days, along with a button reading, “Ask Me About My Dress.” This simple but powerful visual served as a conversation starter, encouraging meaningful dialogue about domestic violence, survivor support, and the importance of community action.
Through social media, personal reflection, and community conversations, members helped amplify the message that domestic violence is not a private issue — it is a community issue. Awareness efforts like this help challenge silence, build empathy, and connect individuals to resources and ways to help.
While the Junior League of Murfreesboro is not currently hosting an active Little Black Dress Initiative campaign, we remain committed to supporting efforts that promote safety, dignity, and resources for women and families in our community.
We encourage community members to continue learning, speaking up, and supporting local organizations that provide services to those impacted by domestic violence.
